Sharks eat other sharks. Tiger sharks come to Cocos Island to feed on the smaller whitetip sharks.

TIGER SHARK STATS

Average Length: 12 to 14 feet (3.7 to 4.3 m)

Range: worldwide in warm seas

Life Span: 40 to 50 years

Diet: marine mammals, marine reptiles, fish, lobsters, and squid

FACT

Besides eating other sharks, tiger sharks feed on stingrays, seals, birds, and squid. Occasionally, they also munch on stranger fare. Car license plates, alarm clocks, bricks, bottles, and beer cans have been found inside the stomachs of tiger sharks, earning them the nickname “swimming trashcans.”
